Professional Knowledge

Professional knowledge is essential for effective teaching and encompasses much more than just content knowledge. The standard for professional knowledge ensures that teachers are meeting state learning standards, providing meaningful and diverse instruction, remaining current with their subject matter, and providing a safe, equitable learning environment for students. Professional knowledge benefits both students and teachers in the classroom by encouraging a growth mindset, working with natural learning processes, and encouraging multifaceted, diverse reflection on course curriculum and instruction. Throughout my academic endeavors, I have continually advanced my content knowledge, developed my teaching skills, and refined the application of my professional knowledge through fieldwork. I consider myself a lifelong learner, and I plan to take additional coursework to continue growing as a teacher, professional, and role model for my students.
